Chaumont Volunteer Fire Department
   
Our Mission: To Provide Fire and E.M.S. Services to the Village of Chaumont and the Town of Lyme
 
The Chaumont Volunteer Fire Department has been in service for almost 90 years in Jefferson county N.Y. We are a Village Fire Department and we incorporate state of the art equiptment to serve and protect our juristiction. All of our firfighters are N.Y.S. trained to the highest standards and hold certification in fire and emergency techniques for there respective positions.
Our department recieves some funding from the Village of Chaumont and the Town of lyme tax base but mostly relies on donations from our fire seal program and thursday nite Bingo.
We have annual chicken BBQ's, Car Washes, and Fishing Derby's that also supplement our operating expenses.
During the winter months we also provide the seasonal properties with a monthly inspection for any problems that may occur while residents are away.
Currently we have aprx. 50 members in the fire department not including the generous help we recieve from the lady's auxilliary.
Shown to the left here is a picture of our main attack pumper 13-4-2 this is an E-one ford chassis with a 1250 Gal. per minute Hale midship pump. This truck has 1000 Gallons of water on board along with 1100 Ft. of 5in. large diam. hose and 3 pre-connect attack lines 2/ 2 3/4 200ft. and 1/ 2 1/2 in. 350 Ft.
This truck is a 1995 Ford and is powered by a 300HP cummins Diesel 5 sp Automatic.
 
13-6-1 Rescue Truck
Shown to the left here is 13-6-1 our medium rescue. This truck houses E.M.S. equiptment as well as all of our on scene fire fighting equiptment.
This equiptment is too numerous to list here but I would like to mention that it incorporated the newly purchaced "Hurst Tool or otherwise known as the "Jaws of Life".
13-6-1 is also used for an on scene Incident command post for large incidents. It has comunication abilities that all the Incident Commander to talk with multiple departments.
These include Jefferson County Sherrifs, Samaritin Medical Center, the U.S. Coast Gaurd, Highway departments, School busses, Red Cross and fire departments in surrounding counties.
This truck also has a large capacity AC generator for powering tools and scene lighting. It is diesel powered and is also a 5 sp automatic.
 
13-5-1 Tanker/Pumper
This is our newly aquired tanker truck. It is a GMC with a 300 HP Cat Diesel 5 Sp auto.
It carries 2200 Gals. of water and has a 500GPM Pump w/2 1 /3/4 in pre connect lines.
This state of the art tanker has electric automatic side dumps as well as a 10 square rear man dump.
The Chaumont Vol. Fire Department also has 3 other trucks not shown here. 13-4-1 Is a Ford Front mount 1000 GPM Hale pumper tanker with 1600 Gal. of onboard water, 3 1 3/4in pre connect hand lines and one 2 3/4in Master stream attack line.
13-4-1- also has aprx 500 ft. of 3 in supply line on board.
The department also has a second tanker truck in service this has a 1800 Gal. capacity tank.
Chaumont fire utilizes a ford extended cab f250 pickup for its first responder vehicle fully equiped to NYS BLS standards.
This truck is designated 13-7-1. Rounding out the department is 13-7-2 a Zodiak water rescue boat and trailer this has a 25 HP Evenrude motor and is equipted with F.D. as well as U.S. Coast Gaurd communications along with various water rescue gear.
